First Penance
The new date for the First Confession ceremony is Tuesday, March 18th @ 7pm.
World Book Day
Most of the pupils got into the spirit of the annual World Book Day in March by dressing up as a character from one of their favourite books.
The Big Busk
Congratulations and well done to the pupils in both 5th classes who did some busking outside Centra in Termonfeckin village. The children and their teachers raised €220 for Focus Ireland on that morning.
Basketball
Drogheda Wolves Portuguese star, Francisco Diaz, comes to our school every Tuesday to coach basketball - the pupils really enjoy these sessions.
Chess Club
There's more interest than ever in our school chess club which meets in Mrs Hurley's classroom every Thursday. The school chess team has played a number of inter-school matches and there is currently a chess league going on in our school to crown the chess champion players in 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes.
Guitar Lessons
Mrs McCluskey's music class is as popular as ever and it was great to see some of the young guitar players playing along to the singing in the recent Big Busk for Focus Ireland.
Playground Artworks
Local artist, Breda Marron, did some workshops with the pupils in Senior Infants and 5th classes and the artwork ideas that the children came up with are represented on the fence of the new community playground. The art pieces are really colourful and imaginative.
Parents Association
More parents/guardians are encouraged to get involved in the school's Parents Association. As the school grows it's essential that a greater number of parents are involved in the great work that the Parents Association carry out over the course of the year.
At this time of the year, volunteers are urgently needed to help with the catering for the school receptions after the Confirmation and First Communion ceremonies in May.
